"BE A GOOD EXAMPLE"
by Mark Pugh
Paul told the young man Timothy, to be a good example. Unfortunately, too many teens today
are not concerned in the least about their example. In our modern world with its emphasis on
instant gratification, too many teens focus on having a good time, partying, and being wild. I
want to suggest a better way for our kiddos.
Don't let Satan and the world control you! There is a price to pay for living like the world.
You get caught up in worldliness and before you know it, you are like the world and unlike
Christ. But, if you live your life to be a good example, you influence everyone around you for good.
Most of you (teens) have brothers and sisters whom you influence. Certainly you want to be a
good influence on them and not see them repeat the same mistakes you may have made. You also want
to be a good influence on your friends. If you were asked, "When it comes to friends, do you pull
them up, or do they pull you down?" what would the answer be? As Christians, we want to be a good
influence on others. We want to be instrumental in leading others to the Lord. I hope you think
about that when you are at school around your friends.
Finally, strive to be a good example for the other kids in the youth group. The younger kids
are looking up to you. They are watching you. They may even be using you for a role model. So,
try very hard to be a good example. It is what God wants you to do. To borrow a phrase from the
army: "Be all that you can be...as a Christian!"
