"God's Magnifying Word"
by Tim Byrd
For You have magnified Your word above Your name - Psalms 138:2.
As a teacher, I have to teach a lesson on the microscope. A compound light microscope used
in class can magnify small particles of matter. This magnification strength depends on the
power of the lens used. Let us say that you viewed an object with just the tube or eyepiece
of the microscope then you usually would have a 10X magnification or the object viewed would
be 10 times its normal size. Now if you used the power lenses below the tube on the nosepiece
you could magnify the object 400X or even a 1000X.
In Psalms the writer is saying that the Word of the Lord is greater than anything. The
deeds of the Lord are greater than anything we could image. The power possessed in that word
or deed of the Lord lifts us up and gives us hope. The deeds of the Lord are great indeed. It
makes you wonder how the writer of the Psalms could know just how great that deed or the Lord
really was.
Dear Lord, Praise and glory be given to your deed or death. Holy! Holy! Holy! is the Lord!!
Great is the deed of dying in our stead. Lord, let us dwell in your deed and may we partake of
your saving grace. In Jesus Name, Amen.
